Volunteer Needs


SATURDAYS, 10:00am-1:00pm
  • Set Building/Painting/Organizing/Planning/Training
  • Microphone training/planning
  • Hair/makeup training/planning
  • Concessions planning/organizing
  • Ticketing planning/organizing
  • Marketing updates and planning
  • Props planning/organizing
  • Backstage supervision planning/organizing

LOAD-IN
Approximately 6-10 hours, can work in shifts if needed
  • Set loading
  • Set transportation (vehicles needed, or moving truck needing to be rented and picked up)
  • Set unloading
  • Set organizing
  • Set assembly
  • All sound equipment loaded, transported, unloaded, unpacked, and organized
  • All costumes loaded, transported, unpacked, and organized
  • All ticket booth, concessions, lobby, and tech booth items loaded, transported, etc
  • All props loaded, transported, etc
  • All misc items loaded, transported, etc (video camera, computers, tshirts?)

TECH WEEK
  • Backstage supervision (2-3 parents per night)
  • Video recording
  • Photography
  • Tech help (light board, play music or sound effects, spotlight)
  • Stage manage (wear headset in the wings and pass on messages from the director)
  • Purchase concessions
  • Purchase/prepare Cast Grams
  • Prepare will-call tickets

PERFORMANCES
  • Box Office (2-3 people)
  • Concessions/Cast Grams (3-6 people)
  • Ushers (2-4 people)
  • Backstage Supervision (2-3 people)
  • Stage Manage
  • Video Recording
  • Photography
  • Tech Help (light board, play music or sound effects, spotlight)

STRIKE
  • Clean and put away all mics and sound equipment
  • Disassemble all set pieces
  • Move set pieces out to the vehicles/truck
  • Load set pieces into vehicles/truck
  • Sort and pack up all costumes, props, and green room items
  • Finish accounting work and move out all the box office stuff
  • Pack up and move out all Chrysalis items from the tech booth
  • Pack up or throw away all concessions items
  • Pack up and move out all lobby items
  • Remove and pack up all door coverings, signs, decorations, etc
  • Make sure all trash/food/etc is thrown away or moved out
  • Final sweep of all theatre areas for anything that was missed
  • Turn off all lights
  • Lock green room door
  • Thank staff and say goodbye
  • Exit the property (make sure to leave before our rental time ends!)
  • Transport all items to where they need to go
  • Unload and carefully put away all items (the better you do it now, the less work we have to do later)
  • Lock up storage sheds and church gate(s) when done
  • CAST PARTY!

POST-PRODUCTION
  • Dry clean all costumes (except lightly worn, non-smelly outer garments)
  • Do accounting work for box office, concessions, cast grams, etc
  • Get all cash/checks ready to deposit, complete with signed deposit slip
  • Deposit all said funds
  • Sort and return all borrowed/rented items
  • Pay final bills
  • Process requests for reimbursements
  • Write thank yous to cast, parents, staff, facilities manager, donors, sponsors, attendees, etc
  • Do whatever organizing and cleanup is necessary at the storage sheds
  • Pick up costumes from the dry cleaners
  • Label and store any Chrysalis costumes (photograph and itemize all new items, add to digital inventory)
  • Touch base with staff and parents for feedback on things that things that were good and things to do better next time
  • Start pre-production for the next show!
